Every parent knows the value of a good night’s sleep—but when your baby won’t settle, it can feel impossibly out of reach. As someone who has spent many late nights supporting families just like yours, I know that somewhere around the 3:00 AM rocking or feeding session, a common question often comes up:
“Do I need a sleep consultant? And how much does one even cost?”
Or maybe you have never even heard of a sleep consultant.
If you’re here, chances are you’re exhausted, curious, and maybe overwhelmed by all the choices are baby sleep. The world of parenting in our generation is an overwhelming placed filled with contradicting information. Let me bring some insight into what you need to know about investing in a baby sleep consultant—from cost breakdowns to budgeting tips—so you can make an informed decision that you feel confident about.
What Does a Baby or Toddler Sleep Consultant Do?
My Approach
My role as a sleep consultant is to get to know you, your family, and the unique sleep challenges you’re navigating. I create a personalized plan to help everyone sleep better, beginning with an evaluation of your daily routines, sleep environment, and goals. This will look different for each family that I work with. Everyone has their own rhythm, priorities and schedules as well as comfort level. I take these things into consideration when creating your plan for you.
From there, I create an ideal daytime routine, bedtime routines, and recommend a realistic method that matches your parenting style. I choose this method based on parenting style but also your baby’s temperament. As well, choosing a method that you can be consistent with will also set you up for success. I even include a whole guide for future success because as you probably know, babies are constantly changes. This lets you keep progress going.
After you start implementing the plan, I offer a hands-on, supportive, and flexible approach, making adjustments as your baby progresses and encouraging you every step of the way. The sleep plan is truly a working document and adjustments along the way are totally normal as I get to know your baby further and their sleep needs. I use sleep tracking as well since data doesn’t lie. This gives us a clear measure of progress.

Several factors influence cost, including:

-
- Experience: As a trusted sleep consultant with years of experience, my rates reflect the value, education, and insight I bring.
-
- Location: In-person visits may include travel time or added costs, especially in larger cities.

Are Sleep Consultants Covered by Insurance?
A question I hear often:
“Is a baby sleep consultant covered by insurance?”
In Canada, sleep consulting is typically not covered by public or private health insurance plans. I try to make my prices accessible and affordable in light of this.
